Karimun Jawa Islands
Karimun jawa is an archipelago of 27 perfect islands, with crystal clear waters, blue skies and powdery white sand to sink your feet into. Karimun jawa is a hidden paradise rarely visited by local and international tourists, due mainly to the lack of information out there about this wonderful place and the only way to get there is by a very slow ferry ride from the main island. The spectacular lofty volcanic plateau of Dieng, a glorious, verdant landscape laced with terraced potato and tobacco fields, is home to some of the oldest Hindu architecture in Java. Dieng which literally means “Abode of the Gods” have more than 400 temples, most dating from the 8th and 9th centuries, originally covered this 2000m-high plain, but they were abandoned and forgotten and only rediscovered in 1856 by an archaeologist. The misty location, sulfurous springs and colored lakes truly make this place a natural wonder.
Prambanan Temple is said to be the most beautiful Hindu temple in the world. It is the biggest temple complex in Java with three main temples dedicated to the three great Hindu divinities, Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma, the symbols of Trimurti in Hindu belief. Originally, the temple complex contained over 250 large and small temple. Mount Merbabu is a dormant stratovolcano located in the center of java island, side by side with mount merapi. Mount merbabu has two summit that is Kenteng Songo (3.142 m) and Puncak Syarif (3,119 m). You can see the whole java island from the submit of mount merbabu. The name Merbabu could be translated as ‘Mountain of Ash’ from the Javanese combined words, Meru means “mountain” and awu or abu means “ash”.
Jatijajar cave is located about 49 km west of Kebumen, or 20 km from Gombong. It is the most interesting cave in Central Java with its stalactite and stalagmite. Inside the cave, there is Kamandaka statue, which has its own legend. The legend inside the cave describing about the legend of Raden Kamandaka or lutung kasarung legend, which this story is represented by statues inside of cave. The length of this cave is about 250 meters
Petruk cave is one of the leading tourist attractions in Kebumen, Central Java. The cave is located in the dukuh Mandayana Candirenggo Village, Ayah District, Kebumen regency. Inside Petruk cave there are so many stalactites and stalagmites which is quite awesome. If you want to explore this cave, you must be leaded by guide to take you through the cave. At the end of the cave, you can see the beach and waterfall nearby the cave.
Just as beautiful as karimun jawa island, Panjang island is located not far away from karimun jawa and still in Jepara. The island is a long and narrow island, hence the Indonesian name is Panjang (long) Island. Panjang island’s beach is narrow but very beautiful with good, safe swimming beach in front of it. It is 150 meters long fringed with thick bushes and trees. The vegetation here is more varied than neighboring islands who usually have coconut plantations on them. The forest on Panjang Island more resembles a tropical rain forest and there are a lot of bird life and bats here. On the northern side of the island there is a small bay with another beach which has good access to the sea and good snorkeling along the rocky shore on both sides of the beach. There are no permanent inhabitants on the island but local fishermen often spend a night or two on the island.
